hurt arm

Imagine a 34 year old mom of 5 boys riding a bike for the first time in about 10 years. This mom then gets a flip flop stuck under the peddle of of her bike and gracefully rolls off her bike onto the concrete. Imagine then, that her family starts laughing hysterically at her and she in turn joins in with them because it is truly funny! Fast forward one day and the same mom ends up in the insta care getting x rays of her arm because it hurts like "no other" and it is swelling up. The slightly homosexual Doctor proceeds to tell her that he thinks it is just a torn ligament and that it is not broken. The mom's dear, sweet but slightly prejudice husband thinks that the DR is a nut case and should not have made any judgements until the x ray comes back. The husband takes the mom home and rigs up an arm brace and sends her to bed to rest. Fast forward to today and the mom's Mother thinks that she should go to the "real" Doctor and see what he says. Mom and child #4 go to the said Dr and he looks at the x rays and proceeds to tell the mom that he trusts the radiologist judgment and the arm is probably not broken but it is to early to x ray the arm again to see if a break shows up. The wonderful "family" DR sends her home with a prescription, arm brace and an appt later on in the week for an x ray if her mother and husband think that it is necessary:) All in all the arm is feeling better each day and the pain has subsided due to the meds. The swelling has gone down and the brace has done a world of good.

Structure Fire July 25th

This evening about 6 pm Steves pager went off and the call was for a fully involved structure fire. Unfortunately for those that lost their home- this was a firefighters dream! Especially those that see about one structure fire a year. Thankfully no one was hurt!


When he got back he was soaking wet. It looked like he had dumped the cooler of water over his head. His pants were wet all the way through. I asked him if he hosed himself down and he informed me that it was sweat! I couldn't believe it! He said that about half way through the fire all the guys were laying on the cement and the fire was still raging. They were so hot and exhausted that they couldn't do anything. Finally they called in Washington City to assist. I think that it was about 105 degrees today.

When I was about 16 or 17 and a lifeguard I used to drool over the firefighters who would come over to the pool to teach us CPR or just drive by. I am serious they were so cute and I remember barely being able to talk when they were around! Who knew that one day I would be married to one of those cute, sexy, heroic firemen! (Not one I lusted over just one that decided later in his life that he wanted to be a fireman.)

By the way, I went for a bike ride with the boys today and I fell off the bike. Tyler said, "See, I told you that you couldnt ride a bike." No worries--I am just fine but a bit embarrassed!

Unimportant Things

1. I can not stand to go to bed with a dirty house. This makes the hour before bed really stressful for myself and my boys. I need to chill

2. I love to sleep! I could sleep all day and all night! It is my favorite pastime.

3. I change my furniture around all the time. I like to think that it helps in keeping my house clean but really it is truely the only thing I have control over.

4. My hair is naturally curley. Especially since my boys were born and since the grey hair has come in. The grey's are very curly and very thick.

5. I went to a KISS concert when I was in middle school. (What were my parents thinking)

6. I have not done the dishes since Tyler turned 8 years old. For Real!

Just in case you are wondering why I have posted two times in one evening....the boys went to Grandma and Grandpa Christian's house for the night, Steve is sleeping and I just finished reading a book but dont want to start a new one until tomorrow.

TTA--Do You Workout?

What is that? I have never been the working out kind of girl. I just dont like it! As much as I need it--

We recently bought a WII fit. It is the funnest way for me to get my exercises. I have been doing yoga, step aerobics, jogging and balancing activities. It is so entertaining that sometimes I forget that I am excercising. I was on it today and it has been a few days, ok, a week, since I was on it last and it lectured me abou the fact that to reach my goal I needed to be more consistant about my work outs. But my WII trainer then kindly told me that he was proud of me for trying to get back in the swing of things.

I always think about joining the gym or curves. I even tried curves for 30 days but I just couldnt do it. I have no motivation. Any suggestions? Never mind, I probably wont listen...

Rain Gutter Regatta

Austin participated in his first Scouting Event. In true Austin style he was very nervous and I was so afraid that he might cry or not want to participated. But I was so proud of him! He lost his first race and didnt even get upset. He wasnt sure about doing it again but when his name was called he jumped right in and did it again. He won is next two races. The only problem was that when he was making his boat we could not find the sander so tyler helped him carve it. The boat looked cool and was very fast but little did we know that the rules specifically say that we could not use a knife to shape the boat:(

Aunt Peggy took Tyler, Austin and Luke to the Bar Ten Ranch on Friday. For those of you that dont know, the Bar Ten is a ranch out on the Arizona Strip that my Grandpa Heaton helped get running. His brothers family runs the ranch and my cousin Thomas has been working out there for the summer. At the Bar Ten the workers assist visitors who are getting ready to or coming off a river trip. They give the guests a true cowboy experience including sleeping in covered wagons, dutch oven cooking and a country show each night. (Free Advertising) Anyway--Aunt Peggy was brave enough to take the boys plus my brother out there for the night. They had so much fun. They rode horses, held snakes, watch the helicopter and took a ride to the rim of the Grand Canyon.

The boys were disappointed because Aunty Peg would not let them ride on the Helicopter but I find it funny that she would let them stand this close to the edge of the Grand Canyon! Now, which is more dangerous? (Just Joking, Aunt Peg)

I am not sure how the boys learned this little jingle...but lately this is all they have been singing. Tyler just told me that he is not sure if it came from the movie Iron Man but he learned it from the kids at school.

TTA--America

With the Fouth of July just past the TTA girls thought it might be a good idea to express our thoughts about the great county that we live in and what makes us PROUD about our country. I say the Pledge every day in my class. The kids even get upset with me if we skip the pledge. Sometimes we have even say it at the very end of the day--just to get it in. I hope that the words to the pledge mean more to the kids that just routine. When I look at the flag I think about all the struggles our forfathers have made and the struggles that we are facing today! What an awesome country we live in! It is not at all easy to live in a free country but I think it is all worth it.

Austin's Special Day

Austin was Baptized on July 5th. He will always remember this special day cause it was part of our Independence Day Celebrations. We even lit off fireworks that night to top it all off. I am proud of him cause he made the choice to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint. He is a great kid and always tries to do his best and choose the right.


A lot of our family came to see the Baptism. Grandma laurel gave a great talk about the Holy Ghost and how the Holy ghost is a comforter. She made Austin a cute blanket to help him remember the comforting and warm feeling that the Holy Ghost brings. Grandma VerDon read a cute poem about Baptism and she showed the pictures of a scrapbook she made to help him remember the covenants he has made.

Steve did a wonderful job with the baptism and the confirmation. He said some neat things to Austin about reminding him to choose good friends and continue to listen to his family for strength. Dad even got a bit choked up during the prayer. (I have only seen him cry a handful of times) He even told Austin to be a good example to his brothers and SISTERS! Yea, sisters. Does that mean we are going to have another child in our family and it will be a girl? He totally denies that he said it..............

Fourth of July

Grandma and I went to town
to get some stuff for the Baptism
and we noticed that the Asian Nail
place was open! Bonus!

Hurricane Fire and Rescue took
up about half of the 12 float parade.
Steve drove the brush truck.
It was pathetic!

Finally Dad joined us for the
fireworks. He usually is busy
doing fireman stuff but this year
he watched the show with us!

We has a fun and relaxed Independence
Day. It was fun to have my mom here
because I am usually alone with the boys
whole day. Plus I dont think I would have
gotten up to take the kids to the Parade.
Dont tell anyone but this is the first Parade
I have taken the kids to. They though the
candy was the best part.

Christian Happenings

TTA--Touch

I really dont know if this is specifically my sense of touch that is working in this instance but here it goes---I can not stand to touch raw meat! Hamburger, chicken, pork, anything! Any cut or style. I try my best to cook it all starting frozen. You know those chicken tenderloins that you buy at costco in the big bag....those are my best friend. I even try to put frozen roasts in the crock pot. I will buy a huge portion of hamburger and cook it all at the same time then freeze the portions I dont use just so that I dont have to see the raw meat again. Call me weird but that is just how it is!
