I've Been Cooking!

I know that this may come as a shock to most of you but I have actually been cooking for my family. Not warming up chicken nuggets or making cheese tortillas or even cup of soup--I have really been cooking !!!!!!

For my birthday this year my room mom, Misti Kirby, made me a cook book. Each child in my class submitted their favorite recipes and then she put them into a cute 8by8 scrapbook with the recipes and the kids pictures. So, way back in November I thought it would be fun to actually try the recipes and let the kids know that I did make them. But I never got around to it because I hate to cook!!! My New Years resolution was to make dinner for my family each night. I do take Friday's off. I have done so well! I am so proud of myself!!! Tyler says that 'cooking is what mom's are supposed to do" It has been fun to gather at the table together each night. I love that the most! But, I am also shocked with the foods that the boys to like. They are all so picky that I wasn't sure if they would eat anything I made. Some nights are better than others but they all have tried something new and seem to enjoy it.

I have used my cute new cookbook and also this blog: pamscooking.blogspot.com and also this blog: lisascooking.blogspot.com These are blogs from two of the ladies from my ward. One is Austins scout leader and the other lady was Nate's primary teacher. They both update the blog often. The recipes are so easy and kid friendly.

Austin's favorite dinner so far has been baked ziti.
Luke's favorite has been green chicken chili enchilada's
Nate has complained every night and says he hates it all but ends up eating every last bite of everything!
Tyler has enjoyed the BBQ pork sandwiches.

I'm excited to try out new dinners and deserts. I even made Steve a special birthday cake. Pineapple cream cake!!! Yummy!!!

Way to go on the cooking thing. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't like to cook. Right now, I'm on my cooking trend, as I call it. I'll cook for a week or so, then it's back to the same ole frozen dinners for the next 2 months.
