Not often do we get Burkeley to come to a family event (you know what it is like to be a teenager) So I took advantage of having them all together and took tons of pictures. Burkeley turned 16 on May 27th. He is a great kid and tries hard to keep up with having tons of brothers and one sister, many sets of Grandparents and a few Great Grandparents, Four Parents, many girlfriends and guy friends, school, track and cross country......We love him and are proud of the young man he is becoming.
A few weeks ago, we met my Grandmas brothers family and visited the place where my Grandma lived until she was about nine years old. We took the old highway from Littlefield to St. George then we took a dirt road to the area around the Beaver Dam Wash. We hung out at a little creek and the boys caught tadpoles. Then we moved up closer to the area where her "home" was. She said that it wasnt really a house but a shack. It had no running water and no electricity. I still cant believe that my grandma lived out there. She is such a city girl---prehaps that is why!
Cousin Steve Terry brought some old pictures of my grandma and her brother while they lived out there. It was fun to look at those. Grandma was adopted and I cant even imagine going to St. George to pick up a brand new baby and taking her out to the desert to live.
